Sometime around 1995 or '96, the Taco Bell near campus installed some experimental computer ordering machines. You go up to the touchscreens and navigate the menu system to pick out your order. OK, kinda novel, but it never really caught on, and a year later the machines were taken out. The only remarkable thing about the system was that when you concluded your order, the computer would ask, in a pleasant, ennunciated female voice, "Would you like a side order of...." But then this other voice was edited in, the voice of some strange maniac, concluding the sentence with, "sour cream?!?" So one day a friend and I smuggled a tape recorder in to save this unforgettable phrase for future generations to enjoy. This site is not affiliated with Taco Bell. Why would it be? |
